In the last year, the team committed their impact work to the below portfolio companies

  • BlakCast is Australia’s first podcasting network that is owned and led by First Nations people. Podcasts are conceived of, developed by, and proudly platform First Nations, black and people of colour. The team holds space for the celebration of Indigenous knowledge and diverse perspectives.

    Contribution: $18,000 in probono services to support the BlakCast program and launch event.

  • Deadly Futures Aboriginal Corporation exists to empower First Nations Futures through education, employment, and cultural resilience initiatives.

    Commitment: $10,000 in probono services for infrastructure build (website) and governance structures to re-establish the Board.

  • Plate It Forward is a World First group dedicated to launching and nurturing social impact venues for culture, people and purpose.

    Commitment: $15,000 in probono services to measure the economic impact of the Plate It Forward Group (which holds 6 restaurants and a charity entity). The team utilised an evidence-based approach, consistent with the cost benefit analysis methodology recommended by the Australian Government’s Office of Impact Analysis to measure impact. The results were then used in grant applications.

  • Collaborating with researchers and industry professionals at the University of Sydney to secure funding for a social impact project. The focus of the project is to construct a prototype of a research-informed data visualization tool to map, track and advocate the accessibility of abortion services in Australia, especially for those populations who already have diminished access to primary care (GPs) and the public health system (hospitals). We are seeking funding to develop a proof-of-concept and determine scalability.

Past projects

  • In partnership with NCI and local high schools in Alstonville, the team designed and delivered a locally-focused leadership program across a 12-month period. The program offered 50 high school female students the opportunity to connect with 40 female role models (across; industry, community leaders, school alumni), engaging in mentoring panels and assignment, training workshops, and external expos. The program focused on pathways, stories/opportunities to strengthen community collaboration, overcoming barriers and future skills.

    Commitment: The team secured $75,000 from NCI and committed a dedicated staff at $35,000 to deliver the program.

  • Layne Beachley Foundation: The Layne Beachley Foundation ‘Aim for the Stars’ was founded by Layne to prevent girls and women alike from enduring the same amount of adversity and financial hardship as Layne encountered to becoming a world champion surfer. The organisation runs a leadership event annually that brings together female leaders.

    Contribution: Secured $46,800 in tickets for disadvantaged female high school students to attend the Leadership Forum. $20,000 in probono services to recruit, and deliver the program.

  • Microsoft STEM Day: A portfolio of programs focused on developing STEM interest and skills for high school students.

    Commitment: $35,000 in staffing cost for managing the program with schools.

  • STEM Day in schools: Partnering with technology companies such as Salesforce, Adobe, AIE, and universities to deliver tailored in-school programs that address the needs of students (identified by the school).

    Commitment: $60,000 in staffing cost for managing the program with schools.

  • Insights into Medicine was a collaboration with UNSW Medical students to curate and deliver a program to disadvantaged young people in Sydney. The program enabled students to network with doctors and industry professionals, learn about how technology is disrupting the industry, had the opportunity to diagnose illnesses through role play.
